Students in Crofton come from different parts of the world and they speak different languages. These are the messages from them.
1.
When I was in Cyprus I was telling to my friends that I was to go to London to go to school and in one day my mum got the tickets and we came to London. I was really happy, and I did not know we came here to stay. Anyway times have gone through. I wrote my name in the school office. I was happy but my legs was shaking up, because I did not know anything. When I went to school, I did not understand anything. It was too hard for me. It was like I was on my own. I was only good at small words, I did not know what teachers was talking about. As the days past I was starting to learn something, but it was hard to speak. Later my teacher Mrs J. helped me lots of times. Later I learned to speak English. But I still can't say some words. I think that was too hard. Sometimes teachers was speaking to me and I was looking their faces like stupids and I wasn't know where to go. It was too but too hard.

I am a Buddy member, because I like helping new people and showing them around the school. I will try my best to make you feel welcome, get new friends for you and so on. I, just like you arrived later to Crofton and I can understand how difficult it is if you are on your own. If there is a problem then you see me and I will try to sort it out, or I will get someone to sort it out. I speak 2 languages: Tamil and Hindi. I can help to translate.

I can help students, who come to Crofton and would like to understand about the school because I came to Crofton when I was 14 and it was difficult for me to make friends and to understand when people were talking to me. However, now I can understand and speak well English and I help people, who come from other countries to understand the system and to show them around.
4. I came in September 2004 from France and I could not understand when people were talking to me and after 6 months I have learned a lot and I can speak English well. Thanks to the help of other students and of Mrs Jarrett I am now able to do GCSE exams papers.
5.
I joined Crofton in Year 11 in September 2004. I am Brazilian, I speak Portuguese and at the beginning I found it very hard to catch up all the coursework and do the GCSE mock-examination in all the subject, like everybody else. However, I got very good mark and I was very proud. I have learned a lot and Mrs Jarrett has helped me to understand the English system and to catch up the work I missed.
